Charlie Chaplin: The Price of Art at Wayside Theatre

The Emerging Artists Fall New Work, Charlie Chaplin: The Price of Art, will be held at Wayside Theatre on November 9 & 10. This play is written by local teens Matanah Betko, Erin Foster, Zoe Giller, and Libby Powell, and the cast comprises of a variety of area high school students. It is directed and designed by Wayside Theatre staff members.

Charlie Chaplin: The Price of Art follows Charlie Chaplin from boyhood to stardom, rising through the ranks of vaudeville into films. As Charlie gains more success, he discovers that, even as a successful performer, artistic freedom is a hard thing to achieve. Charlie finds ways to direct, write, and eventually break away from the oppressive studio system in the Golden Age of Hollywood, becoming one of the most iconic figures in film history.
